--Cyber Smart--

Digital Technology- 21/11/19
For the past couple of weeks we have been learning about cyber smart. We all made a presentation and tested our passwords security levels.
< That was my password when it was tested. It stated that a computer would take 41 years to work out my password

Definition~ Cyber Smart is the act of keeping yourself and others safe online. That would include not sharing passwords or giving out personal information. You need to be making sure you are keeping yourself cyber safe online at all times.
We watched a video on Cyber Smart showing an interviewer asking for peoples passwords to check how secure they were and almost every one of the people they interviewed told them their passwords without hesitation. That shows how blindly people trust others with their passwords. To keep yourself cyber smart you should-
. Not share your password
. Not share personal information

What Brings Me Joy?

English~20/11/19
What brings me joy?
~:~

~:~
One of my pictures was of a plane, this resembles my love for travelling and going to new places. I do not get to travel often to its great when I get to experience going to new places and countries.

I have a picture in my collage of Queenstown, one of my favourite places in New Zealand. My granddad owns a giant farm near the mountains and its so beautiful, fresh and in the winter it even gets snow. Its my happy place.

I chose to put my pets on my collage because I love them and they are very important to me and are a big part of my life.

Why should we as high school students maintain our hobbies?
I think that we should be maintaining our hobbies to relieve stress. It offers us something to do when we are overwhelmed or need to distract ourselves. With hobbies you can connect with other people that may be into the same things as you are and make good friends and socialize with new people.
So I think we should maintain our hobbies throughout high school and even expanding on them and turning them into future jobs.

~Human Rights~

Social Studies, 19/11/19
Human Rights
Human rights are things that should be allowed to be done and equal for every human being. It is a human right to live, experience, have an education and be who you want to be without discrimination or anything of the such.

Karl Heinrich Ulrichs
In 1854 Karl Heinrich was forced to resign from his job as a civil servant after being found to be homosexual. He then became an activist (a person who campaigns to bring about political or social change.), writing and publishing 12 volumes about sexuality. It was believed to be the first theory about homosexuality and is apparently the first gay man to stand up and speak publicly for homosexual rights. He encouraged Germany to repeal anti homosexual laws.

What is Media

On the 29th of October in Social Studies we learn't about Media. We got into groups of two, three and four and wrote about Media (Eg, what is it, types of media, favourite media).

Media is like a spread of information through anything. It can be the enormous storage of information delivered to us in a simple search on google. Media is a collective group of millions of sites and apps used around the globe like Google, Instagram, YouTube. It is a useful tool to use when gathering information. The media can be good or bad, but its not necessarily all on the internet(The internet is another form of media). There are other forms of media too, such as on the Television, maybe through the newspaper or magazines, radios, even through photography and books.
Not only can the media be an endless source of knowledge but it can be a place to connect and socialize with people from around the world through games, sites (like chat rooms) and texting apps for anyone anywhere. Meeting new people across the globe is safe, as long as you are wise with how you use the chatting apps safely and correctly (Be cybersmart).
Media is also a use of entertainment, as you may watch a video on Youtube that you might find amusing. You could listen to an entertaining station on the radio or read a good book.

The average human being uses media in everyday life. It is a common tool used in every corner of this earth, it is a very large part of human beings lives. The media is everywhere now, it was here even before the invention of computers and phones, living in the daily newspaper and books.
Today it has evolved into what it is now, a large part of our lives.

Our Marae

Yesterday on the 4th of September the people from the Waitangi Education Center came to our school and we spent the entire day with them in our social studies class. With them they brought their gear such as their surface tablets and i-pads. They also brought along their Virtual Reality set and their green screen stuff.

We spent our day in the social studies classroom and worked on making a class Marae. We all made individual pou with Sculpt GL that had meanings to us and we also made our pepeha on Paint 3D to go in our Marae above our Sculpt GL pou.                                                                                                                                                 >> We then added decorations outside our Marae on the virtual reality like people (photos of
ourselves), trees, plants, and other things.

Waitangi day 2

On wednesday we had our second trip to waitangi, beginning work on our culture stories. Tyra and I made a start on our story that we have been told to do and are planning what we will do. We got the choice of what programme to use to present our work. After that we went to visit the marae. We got the pleasure of watching a Maori performance. In the next couple of weeks they plan to visit our school and we will continue with our project. Tyra and I are deciding whether or not to do a draw my life on our culture and family and such.

Cavetown

Over the past couple of weeks we have been working on a google slide about a musician in Music Class. I chose Cavetown for this because I enjoy listening to his music and find its unique to the songs going around in 2019. He has a style of music that I love, and so here is my presentation on Cavetown.

Netiquette

Today we learnt about digital etiquette, also known as Netiquette. We did three different activities on digital netiquette and formal or informal language. We showed how we interact with others online nicely and not nicely. After that we were asked to create a poster on google drawings...

Latitude and Longitude

In social studies our class has been learning about latitude and longitude. Longitude being lines on the map going south and east / up and down the globe while Latitude is going around the globe.
